You are in an impossible place. Leaving always causes pain, often for many years. Even so, you have to be true to yourself, you have your whole life ahead - and it is your life. Direct confrontation is not always the best way forward. Your family may cope better if they accept your choices a little at a time. Hope things work out for you.

Ah! Regarding Terry's lack of souls. Some say that due to the lack of souls many people now no longer have souls. This accounts for the lack of spiritual interest among so many people who live only for the pleasures of the flesh. Concerned only with life on earth and their physical bodies; zombie like and lacking any sense of direction.
Hold on! Kingdom halls are full of people like that. In fact Jehovah's Witnesses are one of the few religions who claim they do not have souls.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses know what happened to them in 1954?
by Terry in1954: the year jehovah's witnesses stopped worshiping jesus christ.
watchtower charter: http://www.jehovah.net.au/books/1945_cha..._wtbts.pdf.
did you know that from 1879 until 1954 the writings of c.t.russell, j.f.rutherford, nathan knorr and the watchtower's own charter all agreed that jesus christ was worthy of worship?.

Some good information Terry. Here is some additional information relating to this subject, that may interest those reading this thread.
Jesus Appointed Field Marshal
The Watchtower Society had originally referred to Jesus as their Lord, and as with all Christian religions looked to him as their leader. Now they had adopted a new name, less and less reference was made to Jesus as Lord, but attention was slowly directed to Jehovah. This is one translation of the Hebrew name that the Israelites used, though not the most accurate rendering.
Over the years the divine name was to be used more and more, leading to the publishing of the Watchtower Societies own translation of the New Testament in 1950, which placed great emphasis on the name Jehovah. As time passed Jesus was given less and less credit. The Christian churches were criticised for their attention to Jesus instead of the Father Jehovah. This bias has continued until the present day. The Bible calls Jesus ‘King of kings and Lord of lords’ and states that he will personally come with his angels to claim his right to rule the earth. In 1986 the Society referred to Jesus as a field marshal:
Thus, Jehovah of Armies by means of his field marshal Jesus Christ, will gain undying glory for himself surpassing anything that was described in ‘The book of the Wars of Jehovah’ and in the Hebrew scriptures of the Holy Bible. How beautiful a name will Jehovah make for himself by his awe-inspiring victory in ‘the war of the great day of God Almighty! Jubilantly all lovers of that name will then laud it forever, singing forth his praises!Forward, then, into battle action O Jehovah of armies, with your royal son at your side!
Worldwide Peace and Security under the Prince of Peace 1986.
Heading - Jehovah’s name beautified
This colourful and inspiring prose is designed to detract attention away from Jesus. The Society has presumed to take the place that Jesus holds in the minds of most Christians. Instead of looking to Jesus as the mediator for Christians and the only way to salvation, they claim that only by joining and following them can one have a relationship with Jehovah. This means that all members are personally answerable to the Watchtower Society. Members have been trained to believe a relationship with Jehovah through Jesus is impossible without belonging to the Watchtower Society. At the start of 2010 Jehovah’s Witnesses began using a new song book entitled, Sing to Jehovah. It contains 135 songs, 42 of which are new. Not one of the song titles contains the name Jesus or Christ. The Society’s own Bible states, ‘ He that does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.’ John 5:23 - US spelling.
The following quotes compare the Society’s new arrangement with the Bible record on how the original apostles viewed Jesus:
For there is one God, and also one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, himself a man, who sacrificed himself to win freedom for all mankind…
1 Timothy 2:5 - The New English Bible
The Watchtower Society says:
"Likewise, the Greater Moses, Jesus Christ, is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the mediator … to only 144,000 members "
Worldwide Security under the Prince of Peace - page 10

So Jesus asked the Twelve, ‘Do you also want to leave me?
Simon Peter answered him, ‘Lord, to whom we shall go?
Your words are words of eternal life.’
John 6:67 - The New English Bible
The Watchtower Society says:
Come to Jehovah’s organization for salvation…

So you want proof that reincarnation takes place. See how the apostrophe in the thread title has reincarnated as a comma.
If there is no such thing as reincarnation, then how come I have reincarnated as a gladiator? Just look at my picture.
If I don't exist, how come I am typing these words? Go figure!

It pleases me to believe that I am somewhere on the list. Some years ago I published a book called 'Opening the Door to Jehovah's Witnesses.' I regularly sent a copy to the London Bethel. Not even a thank you.
Mind you, my spies told me that announcements were made a various kingdom halls warning the sheep not to read the book. Those naughty sheep ordered copies and helped to spread my version of good news, increasing sales. Would you Adam & Eve it!

This is a curious thread. I thought it had been established that modern Christians are allowed to fashion Jesus into whatever person or being they want to. The Bible story is just a guide and not even written by Jesus. If a Christina wants Jesus to be good, then he is good.
If a Bible bashing Christian wants Jesus to be a warrior on a white horse with a long sword protruding from his mouth, to smite his enemies with, as per John’s revelation, then that’s what Jesus becomes.
‘Christ like’ is a very elastic term. This is an improvement on old fashioned Christianity where everything was nailed down, no pun intended. Jesus is not just for Christmas so flexibility is required. Personally I want Jesus to be the nice guy in sandals giving out free wine, bread and fish. The more freedom I have to model him in the way I want, the better. Perhaps he will hand out some free beer when he returns?
Remember gods are there to serve us and not the other way around.

Rescuing a God who is blind to Evil
by Terry inhave you ever gone shopping in a department store for shoes or clothes?.
do you just walk over to the rack or shelf and select what you want without trying anything on to see if it fits?.

"God does not comprehend this. It makes Him angry. It makes him lash out. It makes Him bargain. It makes Him inconsistent."
As you know Terry - These are the actions of a creature. A supreme being would not be subject to negative emotions or disappointments.
The god described in the opening post is a god made in the image of man. Is there any other kind?

THE GLADIATOR
As it happens - I told my wife that my refusal to accept the herd mentality of the Watchtower Society probably had something to do with my lack of interest in the Olympics. I also resent the 9.4 billion pounds sterling the event is costing our bankrupt UK . Then an article in this Sundays Daily Mail newspaper echoed my feelings.
“Join the smiley Cult of the Five Circles? Sorry, but I have a democratic right to be bored (and I'm exercising it while I still can)
Enthusiasm is compulsory only in totalitarian dictatorships. Anywhere else, we are free to be keen if we want to, and bored if we want to.
So I wish people would stop telling me that I should enjoy the Olympics, or be proud of them, or think that they will in some way benefit this country.
But they won’t stop telling me. Hardly a day goes by without another previously independent mind surrendering to this pseudo-religion of obligatory smiles.
And that makes me suspicious. What is this strange cult? In the end, the Olympics is nothing more than a large athletics meeting.
Before Hitler and Dr Goebbels made it into a torch-lit and grandiose spectacle, you could be in the same city as the Games and barely notice.
Are we really that interested? And if we are, are we interested for good reasons? Personally, I find it very odd that large crowds have turned out in the street to see a glorified pilot light carried about in a large cheese-grater.”
